Product review: Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser

Hello Butter Babe.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser. It comes in different sizes and mine is 240ml.

If you don’t know already I just produced my first Youtube video and if you’re interested to see you can click this. The reason why I mentioned my first video is because in that post I said that prior to filming the video I have tried very hard to clear my skin so that I can look pretty decent in it. You know, just trying to make a good first impression. I bought many new skin care products like serum, anti aging cream, cleanser and moisturizer. I pretty much changed all products in my skin care routine. I’m very discipline when it comes to my skin care because my skin is quite sensitive and very acne prone.

Why it doesn’t work for me?

You know what they say, not everything will go according to plan. Haha. It turns out after drastic changes that I’ve made my skin became worse than it used to be. Before my skin just looks a little dull and I have acne scars around my cheeks but after I changed my routine I developed all this tiny white bumps (white heads) around my forehead and cheeks. And also few major breakouts. What makes it worse is I can’t track which products that caused it because I changed everything at once. Stupido! But one thing that I’m pretty sure is my skin deteriorates so much worse when I used a new cleanser with my Clarisonic Aria. If you’re interested to know where I purchased my Clarisonic Aria, you can read it here.

I find it very hard for me to write review about this cleanser because I really wanted it to work for me because it seems like quite majority of people like it and it works for them. The price is pretty steep thus I’m a bit at disbelief when it doesn’t improve my skin at all. I’ve used it for about a month before I made a decision to put it aside. You know what cleanser that I’m talking about; it’s the Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser. Aren’t you shocked like I am? I mean Philosophy claims that “Purity is natural” and what can go wrong when you’re using natural cleanser right?

Philosophy claims that Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser can deep cleans, moisturise, act as a toner and remove makeup.

I’m sorry if this picture makes you want to vomit.I don’t think my camera picks up everything that’s going on with my skin condition. You can see pretty clearly all the white bumps.

I’m not trying to stop you from buying this cleanser or anything because we totally have different skin type and of course different body chemistry thus it will give different outcomes to different people. The decision is entirely up to you but just one thing I’d like to point out here is I read in many reviews that Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser is not entirely made of natural ingredients. Don’t take my words for this because when I read the ingredients I can only comprehend one or two of it. One thing I’m sure is it does contains paraben.

What makes me more devastated is people claimed that it is so effective to be used with any Clarisonic devices because it is gentle. I’m not sure if this cleanser is good for women with dry skin because it can be quite drying even though my skin is extremely oily.

The texture is runny and very creamy. It has pretty decent scent to it.

I like the packaging, it is so minimalist and elegant. Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser is a multi purpose cleanser. You can use it to clean your face and also as a gentle makeup remover. I find that it is quite gentle on my eyes because I can remove my eye makeup without having any stinging feeling on or around my eyes. But do not expect you can remove all waterproof products just by using this. I still have to go over again with my regular makeup remover.

I also find that Philosophy Purity Made Simple 3-in-1 Cleanser is also good to be used as cleanser for my makeup brushes but because of the steep price I think it is such a waste to use it to clean my makeup brushes.

When this cleanser does not work wonders for me, I made some reading to find out why it happened. There are some people say that you have to use it without wetting you face first, use it on dry face. You know what I mean? I have print screen one excerpt from makeupalley.com below if you are interested to know where I read it.

How I use it?

After I splashed water on my face I wet my Clarisonic Aria’s brushes and then just put good amount of the cleanser in the middle of the brush head. Then I just use my Clarisonic Aria as I normally would.

Overall experience

I still can’t believe this cleanser does not improve my skin in any way. Right now, I’m just trying to calm down my skin with just using minimal and natural products on it. I’ll probably try using this product again in a few months. I still have high hopes for it. I also know that there is Purity Made Simple one step cleanser and the reviews for that particular cleanser is so positive. Maybe I should try that instead.

Again, don’t let me be the reason why you don’t want to purchase this cleanser. I know that it only takes one bad review to keep you from buying something but really, our circumstances might not be the same. Some products might work for you, others might not. It’s best to do your own research and read as much review as you can then make your decision. Try the products out and hope for the best.
